BT has reached the 4 million customer mark thanks to gaining new broadband customers. The internet service Talk Talk from the Carphone Warehouse has come in at third place with 2.5 million customers. BT has increased revenue in the first time in four years due to the new business success in broadband. In the last quarter BT signed up 178,000 customers to bring it up to the 4 million mark. Last year Talk Talk made a £11 million lost where as this year there is a profit of £39 million. There have been different business strategies to gain more customers. Talk Talk have provided new customers with a free trial, whereas BT Broadband have concentrated on value rather than price. Bt have also made staffing changes, with 2,000 middle managers leaving over the past few months, but new hiring of engineers currently in place. The UK Broadband market is arguably the most aggressive in the world, so all broadband customers have to come up with their own strategy to win over the potential customers.
