The City of London has launched its first wide spread wifi access giving wireless internet access to 350,000 workers. Cloud the company tasked with installing the network claim it is the most advanced in Europe and will be invaluable to bankers, traders and brokers who are on the move or out to lunch.
Unlike many widespread networks, this will not be free, it will be available through a variety of providers who will charge varying rates.
There have been questions raised over how much this will get used, with most cafes having wifi networks, but the City of London corporation claim it will be important in facilitating voice calls over the internet, which will allow companies to save vast amounts of money on their mobile bills.
